The 130,000-ton Carnival Dream – the line’s largest ship – is
set to debut Sept. 21 and the vessel’s size has provided the line additional
opportunities to offer guests a host of palate-pleasing dining choices from around
the world.
“‘Fun Ship’ cruising is already the best value at sea and we’ve
conducted extensive research that shows that in today’s economy consumers
are seeking a vacation that offers a multitude of delicious dining choices without
a lot of added costs,” said Roberta Jacoby, Carnival’s senior vice
president of hotel operations. “The dining options aboard the Carnival Dream
represent the culmination of our wide-ranging consumer research efforts, while
showcasing the incredible talents of our master chefs.”
Expanded Casual Offerings,
Including New Italian Pasta Bar
Carnival is known for offering the widest variety of casual dining options at
sea, and Carnival Dream continues that tradition with the two-level casual eatery
called The Gathering, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner alternatives.
From Italian and Tex-Mex to tandoori and Asian specialties – and just about
everything in between – The Gathering offers a diversity of culinary choices
to suit any mood or taste.
New on Carnival Dream is a pasta bar where guests have their choice of pasta,
sauce and ingredients to create a custom-made dish and enjoy traditional Italian
favorites such as Portobello ravioli and pasta carbonara. The Gathering
will also house Carnival’s popular 24-hour pizzeria with seven kinds of
pies and calzone, Caesar salad and garlic bread.
Carnival Dream’s burrito bar is also sure to be a popular
spot where guests can create an overstuffed wrap featuring their choice of chicken,
beef, shrimp, salsa and other accompaniments.
Also available within The Gathering will be a Mongolian wok offering
custom-made stir-fries with guests’ choice of meat and vegetables and finished
with one of Carnival’s signature sauces; Taste of the Nations, featuring
a different international cuisine each day; a New York–style deli; a tandoori
oven offering Indian-style chicken, fish and meatballs, along with traditional
bread, chutneys and relishes; and a grille serving hot dogs, hamburgers and grilled
chicken sandwiches.
The Gathering will also offer an extensive 35-item salad bar,
24-hour frozen yogurt, low-calorie dressings and sugar-free desserts for guests
seeking healthier alternatives.
An expanded 24-hour room service menu that includes new choices
such as Medium Rare Roast Beef and Brie on French Baguette and Grilled
Fresh Mozzarella and Portobello Mushroom on Focaccia, will also be offered.

to relax and people watch.

serving lattes, cappuccinos, espresso and other specialty coffees, along with
sweets such as baked-on-board cakes, pies, cookies – even freshly made milkshakes.
Full bar service, specializing in martinis, mojitos and other popular cocktails,
will be offered, as well.
The Ultimate Dining Experience
at The Chef’s Art Steakhouse

Daily Photo Journal Chronicling Dramatic Transformation Attracted Thousands
That
Followed Behind-the-Scenes Progress
SANTA
CLARITA, Calif. (May 12, 2009) – A transformed Golden
Princess has emerged from the most extensive drydock ever undertaken by
Princess
Cruises, one that was followed closely by thousands of cruise aficionados
around the world. Throughout the three-week makeover, a daily online photo
journal offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the dramatic amount of work needed
to add such signature Princess features to the ship as a new piazza-style atrium,
an adults-only Sanctuary,
a Movies
Under the Stars poolside movie screen, and a new Crown
Grill steak and seafood restaurant.
The online journal, which was updated each day on www.princess.com
as well as on popular social networking sites Twitter and Facebook, featured more
than 180 photos giving viewers a front-row seat as the immense project was undertaken
at Victoria Shipyards in British Columbia.
The full transformation is available for viewing at www.princess.com/goldendrydock,
and features such rare scenes as the hull of the ship and propellers out of the
water with the new silicone underwater paint being applied, to hundreds of pieces
of furniture being re-upholstered, to key public areas being demolished and re-configured
into new spaces.
“Based on the many comments we received, I think it’s safe to say that our passengers
were amazed at being able to watch Golden Princess’ makeover as it happened,”
said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president. “We heard that they
have a new appreciation for the dramatic amount of work that goes into a project
like this, as well as how much care and effort we put into our ships every day.”
Swartz added that a complex project like this drydock was a prime example of the
teamwork and dedication for which Princess is known.
During a short sampler sailing to Ketchikan and then back to Seattle, the new
features were unveiled to passengers, and the ship is now cruising on its first
Alaska voyage of the season. Golden Princess will continue to offer
weekly departures from Seattle on roundtrip Inside Passage voyages through September
12.
Now that the transformation is nearly complete, Golden Princess’ atrium
features a new Piazza with an inviting street café atmosphere and two new dining
options. The International Café serves up specialty coffees, fresh baked
cookies, pastries, panini sandwiches and tapas, while wine bar Vines offers a
selection of more than 30 wines by the glass, plus a selection of seafood, artisan
meats and cheeses, and a wine shop where passengers can purchase their favorite
bottle.
Adult passengers looking to get away from can now relax in the tranquility of
The Sanctuary, Princess’ signature retreat featuring plush padded lounge chairs
and the services of dedicated Serenity Stewards. Visitors to this exclusive
space can enjoy refreshing beverages and light snacks, or receive a massage in
one of the private cabanas.
And a new 300-square-foot Movies Under the Stars poolside LED screen now features
evening movies and a variety of daytime programming, comparable to the best shoreside
movie theater. In addition to family cinema and first run hits, it showcases
major sporting events, concerts and other can’t-miss programming – up to 50 different
offerings per week.
The ship also now features a brand-new relocated casino on deck 7, a new sports
court, a new Internet café and library, and a refurbished fitness center.
And all passenger cabins were also fitted with new flat screen televisions.
With such an ambitious project list to accomplish in just three weeks time, some
spaces are still in the final phases of completion. This includes the new
Crown Grill restaurant, newly constructed suites, and the relocated shore excursions
desk and wedding chapel.
“This massive drydock clearly demonstrates Princess’ commitment to ensuring our
passengers experience our signature features and amenities no matter which ship
they sail,” added Swartz.

feature visits to Key West and Cozumel.
Two five-night holiday sailings will be available: the December

the beautiful turquoise waters around CocoCay and view a variety
of marine creatures such as starfish, conch, and stingrays.

waters of the Mexican Caribbean, with drinks and food included.

which features a catamaran cruise with time for snorkeling at the
Roatan National Reef and a visit to the Gumbalimba Nature Park with

made when the ship underwent a $55-million makeover in 2006. These
upgrades included the addition of 314 new verandas, 14 new suites,
10 new staterooms ranging from inside to veranda categories, and
an expanded number of ConciergeClass category staterooms. Celebrity
also expanded its AquaSpa, added the specialty restaurant, Murano,
refurbished the main dining room, created the first ice bar at sea,
and enhanced the bedding in staterooms. Since the ship’s 2006 makeover,

Largest ‘Fun Ship’ Ever Constructed Set to Debut in Europe
Sept. 21
MIAMI (February 2, 2009) – With more than 19,000 total square feet of space
catering to children, ’tweens and teens – from expansive indoor and outdoor play
areas to a sprawling aqua park housing the cruise industry’s longest water slide
– the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream is designed as the ideal family vacation. In
addition to modern facilities and the most dedicated space to families in the
“Fun Ship” fleet, Carnival Dream’s kid-friendly amenities will include supervised
programs for three age groups – Camp Carnival (ages 2-11), Circle “C” (12-14)
and Club O2 (15-17) – offering a full schedule of morning-til-night activities
organized by highly trained staff.
Slated to debut Sept. 21, 2009, Carnival Dream will further bolster Carnival’s
distinction as the family cruise leader, carrying an estimated 625,000 children
aboard its 22-vessel “Fun Ship” fleet – roughly half of the total number of kids
carried by the entire North American cruise industry. “Families today are looking
for a vacation that provides children of all ages with a wide variety of fun-filled
activities, all at outstanding value. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned over
the years and incorporated it into the design of Carnival Dream whose unmatched
combination of spacious facilities, unique outdoor features and enthusiastic staff
makes it the ultimate family vacation,” said Roberta Jacoby, Carnival’s senior
vice president of hotel operations.
Expansive ‘Camp Carnival’ Play Area
The focal point of Carnival Dream’s children’s activities will be an expansive
play area encompassing 5,000 square feet of space and offering magnificent ocean
views. Located on Deck 11, Camp Carnival will be divided into three distinct sections,
each catering to a different age group. The first area, designed for children
ages 2-5, features an arts and crafts center and a variety of age-appropriate
toys and games; the second, aimed at six- to nine-year-olds, offers video game
consoles such as PlayStation2 and Wii linked to the latest plasma TV screens;
and the third, catering to kids 9-11, includes a karaoke machine, air hockey and
foosball tables and PlayStation2 and Wii video game consoles. A reception desk
will provide parents with a convenient and inviting venue to check their kids
in and out of the program. Like all “Fun Ships,” Carnival Dream will offer a wide
variety of activities specifically geared toward children, including the WaterColors
art program; ExerSeas, emphasizing physical fitness, SeaNotes, with fun music-oriented
games and activities; and EduCruise, designed to educate kids on the ship’s diverse
European and Caribbean itineraries. Children can also create their own custom-designed
Carnival T-shirts, as well as build their own Carnival Cuddly or “Fun Ship” Freddy
plush toy. A number of multi-generational activities – including pizza-making
sessions, family water play and trivia contests – will also be offered. Camp Carnival
will also serve as the site for Carnival’s babysitting services, which are available
from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. nightly and cost $6 per hour for the first child and $4
per hour for each additional child in the same family.
Older Kids Enjoy ‘Circle C,’ ‘Club O2’
Sure to be a big hit with older kids are the modern, high-tech Circle “C”
and Club O2 facilities, catering to 12- to 14-year olds and 15- to 17-year olds,
respectively. Located on Deck 4, the 1,075-square-foot Circle “C” center gives
’tweens a place to call their own, with a dance floor, DJ, a video jukebox and
Internet workstations, providing the perfect place to just kick back and relax.
Adjacent to Circle “C” is Club O2, a 2,740-square-foot teen club where older kids
can make new friends, and dance to the latest hits cranked out by a high-energy
disc jockey. Designed as the ultimate “chill” space, this expansive room also
includes a soda bar, music-listening stations and a state-of-the-art sound and
lighting system. Both the Circle “C” and Club O2 programs have a dedicated director
who oversees a host of fun activities, including late-night movies, video game
contests and pool parties. Located next to the teen club is The Warehouse, an
expansive game room featuring the latest video and arcade games. Teens can also
enjoy Carnival’s popular Y-Spa youth spa program offering a variety of soothing
treatments.
Expansive Outdoor Activities
As the largest “Fun Ship” ever constructed, Carnival has made maximum use
of the Carnival Dream’s massive open decks, creating a variety of fun and inviting
features, including Carnival WaterWorks, the largest and most elaborate water
park at sea. In addition to a 303-foot-long, four-deck-high corkscrew water slide
– the longest in cruising – there will be another 104-foot-long spiral water slide
that leads into a giant funnel, providing riders with an exhilarating and memorable
conclusion to their journey. WaterWorks also includes twin double-lane 80-foot-long
racing slides and various water spray apparatus with squirting fountains, splash
zones, “dump buckets” and more. Carnival Dream’s other open-deck activities include
the line’s first 18-hole miniature golf course, as well as basketball and volleyball
courts with stadium-style seating.
Family-Friendly Staterooms, Kid-Friendly Dining
Carnival Dream’s family friendly features even extend to the ship’s accommodations,
which include spacious deluxe ocean view staterooms with a unique configuration
featuring two bathrooms. In addition to twin beds that convert to a king and ample
closet space, the extra-roomy cabins will include one full bathroom and a second
bathroom with a junior tub, shower and sink. In addition to dozens of inter-connecting
staterooms, many of the Carnival Dream’s accommodations can hold up to five guests
– a rarity in new ship construction and also ideal for families. With dining such
an important part of any cruise, Carnival Dream will also offer the widest variety
of kid-friendly culinary choices at sea. In addition to a grille serving hamburgers
and hot dogs, The Gathering casual poolside restaurant offers 24-hour pizza and
ice cream while extensive children’s menus, with a daily junior special promising
something new each day, are available in the main dining rooms. And with Carnival’s
“dining under the stars” program, kids can also enjoy a meal with the youth staff
in the Lido restaurant allowing parents to have a night to themselves. Carnival
Dream will also offer the line’s Fountain Fun Card program which, for a one-time
fee, offers unlimited soft drinks throughout the voyage. And greeting guests each
night as they return to their staterooms are Carnival’s wildly popular “towel
animals” – in the shape of a swan, monkey, pig or dozens of other creatures –
custom-designed by the line’s talented stateroom stewards.
Exciting Inaugural Schedule
Carnival Dream is slated to debut Sept. 21, 2009, with the first of three
12-day Grand Mediterranean cruises operating round-trip from Rome, followed by
a 16-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Rome (Civitavecchia) to New York Oct. 27

cruises departing Nov. 15 and 23, 2009, then reposition to Port Canaveral, Fla.,

Port Canaveral’s close proximity to Orlando, home to numerous theme parks and
attractions, these cruises are expected to hold particular appeal to families.

In an effort to continually broaden it’s reach and accessibility
to potential guest, Holland America Line now has a mobile friendly version of
the website, www.hollandamerica.com, for all devices able to connect to the internet.
“More and more people are using mobile devices to get things done
when traveling, while waiting in line, and at other so-called down times,” said
Richard D. Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs.
“So, our new accessibility will allow them to check details and plan a cruise
wherever they are.”
Web surfers will be automatically redirected to the new mobile
site if a user accesses the site from a mobile device. To mobilize the site, images
were removed and layouts simplified for use on a mobile device.
The most popular areas of www.hollandamerica.com have been adapted
for mobile use. These include the research tools Cruise and CruiseTour Finder
to find travel options and pricing, ports information to look up such things as
departure port details and directions while in a cab, a complete For Booked Guests
section for current cruisers, and the ability for past guests to look up their
Mariner Society number on-line. A special phone number is listed for those who
want to call in and book from their mobile device, too, since bookings cannot
be made through the mobile website.

Over the past year we've made every effort to control fuel prices; however,
the current environment has forced us to finally implement a fuel surcharge for
our cruises. Therefore, we'll be adding a fuel surcharge of $12 per guest per
cruise night for each of our cruise itineraries. As you know, the world oil market
continues to be volatile, so to keep this cost as fair as possible, we have calculated
it based on our best current estimates for the cost of fuel. This is a capped
amount, applies for all of our vessels and is effective Monday, November 12, 2007.
Please mention this surcharge when you are booking on Cruise West cruises.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Sincerely,
Richard G. West
Chairman & Managing Director
We want to inform you that because of rapidly escalating fuel prices, Carnival
Corporation & plc's six North American brands - Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises,
Cunard Line. [ America Line. Princess Cruises, and The Yachts of Seabourn - have
implemented a fuel supplement of $5 per person per day.
The fuel supplement. which applies to the lirst and second guests in a stateroom,
not to exceed $70 per person per voyage, is effective on all bookings for voyages
departing on, or after February 1,2008.
The fuel supplement is necessitated by significant rises in fuel prices which
have dramatically increased Carnival Corporation & pie's operating costs. Tn fact,
over the past three years, the price the company pays for fuel has increased by
140 percent. with a 50 percent increase occurring in just the last seven months.
Until now, the company has been absorbing this significant increase in fuel
costs. Unfortunately, we cannot continue to shoulder this huge cost burden and
now find it necessary to implement a supplement to partially offset a portion
of soaring fuel costs. The implementation of the fuel supplement beginning February
1, 2008 for our North American brands will result in consumers paying approximately
one-third of our year-over-year thel cost increases over the first sixth months
of the fiscal year.
